New Media Atlanta Scholarship Winners

NewMediaAtlanta is proud to announce the winners of its’ much anticipated scholarship competition. Entries were submitted in three categories where scholarship-hopefuls described their current social media efforts and professional obstacles that could be improved by attending the conference.

NewMediaAtlanta wanted to recognized the challenges that current jobless, start-ups, and students are facing in this economy by awarding several all-expenses paid tickets to Friday’s event in order to network with Atlanta’s best and get an edge in social media tools and applications.

Winners will receive an all-access pass and recognition at the conference while Runners-Up are awarded an Networker’s pass at half off the regular ticket price.

Jobless Category Winner:
Allie Sullivan, let go from her position at a national non-profit, organized a Twestival event and is engaging in social media more than ever in attempts to find employment.

Runner Up: Ray Bridenbaugh, is spending his time wisely and donating his technology and software experience and talents to non-profits.

Start-up Category Winner: Brian Cauble, of App Solution Genius, quit his job to start this iPhone development company while simultaneously founding Birmingham Entrepreneur, a non-profit resource for community entrepreneurs.

Runner Up: Stacey Lasky, of Social Butterfly Buzz, whose hours were severly cut from her job at a non-profit, is now capitalizing on her social media skill set in offering her online savvy to small business.

Student Category Winner: Stephen Rosenberg, UGA MBA program, works with social media job placement and has developed a forum for start-ups in finding social media tools that meet their needs. Stephen is also the founder of the Athens Tweetup.

Runner-Up: Jessica Latin, GT MBA program, developing a social capital idea to encourage students to pursue science, technology, math, and engineering (STEM) careers.
